Good morning Friends,
To retreat: "to withdraw from enemy forces as a result of their superior power or after a defeat."
Well, I don't think so! Well, maybe! No, I was right the first time - no way.
To spend a full day with staff and board members working for the good of the clinic and its constituents feels nothing like withdrawing from the enemy. We did expose some barriers but I wouldn't call them the enemy unless, of course, we let the true enemy use them against us.
No, "to retreat" - to simply take pause to reflect on where we have been, dream about where we want to go next, and strategize about the best way to get there. To retreat.
I enjoyed the camaraderie and openness shared among the staff and the board. I appreciated Charlie's willingness to pull from each of us when our lips seems sealed. I embraced the humble approach taken when looking backwards to help move forwards.
Success at MHI will never be measured in dollars, it will always be measured in the difference we make in the health and care of single individuals and families. Although, one could argue that dollars are one approach to reaching our primary goal.
It was refreshing to see that only a word or two needed tweaking to bring our Mission Statement in line with present day thinking. How bright and forward thinking were those who penned the first draft.
My hat is off to all who dedicated a Saturday away from family and chores to care enough about the future direction and success of MHI. You are an encouragement.
I pray for blessings on your families, your health, and your prosperity as you carve out another year in the legacy that is MHI.
Blessings,
Dave
